Naryshkin: European politicians are doing nothing under NATO's influence

ULAANBAATAR. Sept 16 (Interfax) - Russian State Duma Speaker Sergei Naryshkin said NATO is encroaching on many European values and norms of international law.

"Unfortunately, Europe has impartially looked on as the military boot, made according to NATO standards, is trampling on moral ideals and the basic fundamental principles and norms of international law for a long time," Naryshkin told reporters at the fall session of the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly held in Ulaanbaatar on Wednesday.

Naryshkin said he is talking about it on the basis of Europe's position "on the interventions in Iraq and Libya and what is now happening in Syria."

"It's clear to everyone that the ideology of the interventions I have mentioned comes from the U.S.," Naryshkin said.

Naryshkin said he does not support conspiracy theories. "However, a natural question arises: is Europe the final goal of those who have destabilized the situation in the countries of Northern Africa and the Middle East with the persistence of a maniac in recent years?" he said.

"Someone surely knew that the flows of refugees - these poor people who are trying to save their lives - will head to the wealthy EU countries," he said.

"Did many political leaders of Europe openly speak about the causes of this crisis, this wave of refugees which is now literally hitting the countries of Europe?" Naryshkin said.

"No, old Europe prefers to keep silent on this matter, with rare exceptions," he said.
