Twenty-five militants killed, 125 detained in operation against Gen. Nazarzoda - Tajik prosecutors

MOSCOW/DUSHANBE. Sept 17 (Interfax) - Twenty-five militants were killed and more than 100 were detained during a recent operation to neutralize the armed group led by mutinous General Abduhalim Nazarzoda in the Ramit gorge of Tajikistan, the Tajik Prosecutor General's Office said in a press release on Thursday.

"Twenty-five terrorists were neutralized during the armed clash, and 125 members of the terrorist group and their accomplices were identified and detained, including 28 people thanks to vigorous cooperation on the part of the local population," it said.

"Unfortunately, 14 officers of law enforcement agencies were killed during the operation," the document says.

More than 600 firearms of different brands and 11,375 cartridges of various calibers were also confiscated during the anti-terrorist operation, the Prosecutor's Office said.
