Russian, Palestinian officials discuss Syria, fight against ISIL
MOSCOW. Sept 18 (Interfax) - Special Representative of the Russian President for the Middle East and Africa, Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Bogdanov has discussed the Syria peace process and the fight against ISIL with Ahmed Majdalani, member of the PLO Executive Committee and Secretary General of the Palestinian Popular Struggle Front.
"The situation inside and around Syria was highlighted with an emphasis on the need for the soonest political resolution of the crisis in the country and an efficient fight against the terrorist group Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant," says a report published on the Russian Foreign Ministry website on Thursday.
The meeting, which was also attended by Palestinian Ambassador to Russia Abdel Nofal, was dedicated to topical aspects of the development of traditionally friendly Russian-Palestinian relations, including a boost to the trust-based political dialogue.
