U.S. concerned with unsolved conflicts in CIS
BAKU. Sept 18 (Interfax-Azerbaijan) - The United States is concerned by the presence of unsolved conflicts in the post-Soviet world, U.S. Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense Evelyn Farkas told a briefing in Baku on Friday.
According to Farkas, she has to deal with issues associated with conflicts in Russia, Georgia, Ukraine and Moldova on a daily basis.
The United States is constantly following up on this matter, searching for ways to reach a just resolution of the conflicts, in full conformity with international legal rules, Farkas said.
Giving her comments about the possible deployment of Russian peacekeepers in the area of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, Farkas said that she is aware of this information.
However, Farkas called all of this speculation. Russia is a participant in the transparent Minsk process, in which the governments of Azerbaijan and Armenia take part, and if such a plan turns up in future she believes that it will be discussed openly together with other participants in the Minsk group, Farkas said.
