Russian president orders Defense Ministry to sign agreement on Russian airbase in Belarus

MOSCOW. Sept 19 (Interfax-AVN) - President Vladimir Putin has ordered the Russian Defense Ministry in collaboration with the Russian Foreign Ministry to hold negotiations with Belarus and to sign an agreement between the Russian Federation and the Republic of Belarus on the deployment of a Russian airbase in Belarus.

To accept the proposal of the Russian government to sign an agreement on a Russian airbase in the territory of Belarus, said the president's order published on the official legal information portal on Saturday.

"To order the Russian Defense Ministry to hold negotiations with the Belarusian side with the participation of the Russian Foreign Ministry and, upon the achievement of agreement, to sign this document on behalf of the Russian Federation with the right to make unessential adjustments to the draft approved by the Russian government," the order said.
