South Korean delegation to attend intl. parliamentary forum in Moscow

MOSCOW. Sept 21 (Interfax) - The South Korean parliament speaker will participate in the international parliamentary forum that is due to be held in Moscow early in October, Park Ro-byug, the country's Ambassador to Russia, has said.

"We hope that good will to develop cooperation and maintain a dialogue will be expressed in the positive environment during the forum," Park Ro-byug said on Monday when meeting with State Duma Deputy Speaker Andrei Isayev.

It is expected that Russia's State Duma Chairman Sergei Naryshkin will meet with the South Korean delegation in Moscow on September 30, Isayev said. "We also assume that the delegation is to meet the leaders of Saint Petersburg."

Both Park and Isayev recalled that the celebration of the 25th anniversary of Russia-South Korea diplomatic relations will be held in the coming days and that the official state visit of a delegation from South Korea's National Assembly led by its Speaker Chung Ui-hwa to Russia is timed to coincide with this date.

The fourth international parliamentary forum is to be held in Moscow on October 1. In 2014, delegates from 70 countries participated in the forum. "We believe that this forum will be quite representative; these days, we are receiving confirmations from parliamentary delegations and international organizations," Isayev said.

This year, the role played by parliaments in the area of international security will be discussed at the forum, Isayev said. "We consider this topic to be particularly relevant given global instability and increasing terrorist threat," he said.
