Weekly inflation in Russia again quickens to 0.2% - Rosstat
MOSCOW. Sept 23 (Interfax) - Weekly inflation in Russia was 0.2% in the period September 15-21, the Russian Federal State Statistics Agency (Rosstat) said.
Inflation was 0.1% in the previous week, 0.2% in each of the two weeks prior to that, 0.1% in the week August 18-24 and zero in the four weeks prior to that.
Inflation was 0.2% in the third week of September last year also, so on that basis, annual inflation on September 21 was unchanged from September 14 and the end of August at 15.8%.
Average daily price growth has been 0.022% since the start of this month, as in September 2014, and double 0.011% seen in August 2015.
Inflation was 0.5% in the first 21 days of September and 10.3% since the start of the year. It was 6.1% between January 1 and September 21 last year.
In the latest week, prices for eggs and sunflower oil rose 2.4% and 1.6% respectively and were up 0.3%-0.6% for beef, cheese, margarine, rice, buckwheat groats, biscuits, candy and tea.
Fruit and vegetable prices declined 0.6% on average, including 4.3% for carrots, 3.2% for potatoes, 1.2% for cabbages and 0.9% for apples. However, prices for cucumbers rose 3.0% and tomato prices increased 2.8%.
Gasoline prices increased 0.2% in the week, while the price of diesel was unchanged.
In September, the Central Bank raised its 2015 inflation forecast to 12%-13%. The Finance Ministry expects inflation to total 12.2% this year.
Economic Development Minister Alexei Ulyukayev said last week that the Central Bank's forecast was "a reasonable conjecture" and that inflation this year might top 12%. His ministry's most recent forecast is for 11.9% inflation in 2015.
Analysts told Interfax in a consensus forecast at the end of August that inflation would amount to 12.3% this year.
