Russia, U.S. to begin talks over Venus mission next week - IKI Director

MOSCOW. Sept 28 (Interfax-AVN) - Russia and the United States will resume their discussion of a joint space mission to Venus, Lev Zelyony, director of the Space Research Institute (IKI), told a press conference entitled "50 years of fundamental science in space."

"The talks will begin early next week," Zelyony said on Monday.

The mission was discussed in January 2014, but the talks were put on hold after the events in Ukraine, he added.

A joint flight to Venus will be possible after 2025, the IKI director said

"We will use the Venera-D project as a basis," Zelyony said.
