Syrian authorities hail Russia's decision to begin operation against ISIS - Syrian ambassador

MOSCOW. Sept 30 (Interfax) - The Syrian administration hails Russia's decision to begin an air operation in Syria to fight ISIS, Syrian Ambassador to Russia Riyad Haddad told Interfax on Wednesday.

"Syria welcomes any operations, air strikes or ground operations to counter terrorism on the ground," Haddad said.

"That request came personally from President Bashar Assad. All of these actions, of course, are in line with international law and the UN Charter," the ambassador said.
