CBR bank oversight head moving to Deposit Insurance Agency
MOSCOW. Oct 1 (Interfax) - The head of the bank oversight department at the Central Bank of Russia (CBR), Ruben Amiryants is leaving his post, sources close to the CBR told Interfax.
The decision on staff changes will be announced soon, one source said.
Another source said that Amiryants is taking a senior position at the Deposit Insurance Agency.
Amiryants refrained from commenting on this information and suggested contacting the CBR press service, which in turn told Interfax that it does not comment on personnel issues.
Amiryants became head of the bank oversight department at the CBR on September 1, 2013, prior to which he was director of the CBR's department for licensing and financial recovery of lending institutions from April 2012. He has worked at the CBR for 18 years.
As head of bank oversight, Amiryants stepped up efforts to purge the market of troubled banks and lenders involved in questionable transactions. More than 100 banks lost their licenses in 2013 and 2014, and more than 50 lenders were stripped of their licenses in the first eight months of 2015.
