Mutual understanding between Russia, U.S. leaders not leading to cooperation on Syria - Lavrov
NEW YORK. Oct 1 (Interfax) - The presidents of Russia and the United States perfectly understand one another; this understanding, however, is not leading to a cooperation on Syria, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov has said.
"I believe that they perfectly understand one another, but for some reason this understanding cannot be shifted towards a full-scale joint action, full-scale cooperation," Lavrov told a press conference on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly in New York on Thursday.
"When Presidents Putin and Obama met, I can reassure you, the atmosphere was very constructive and very friendly. They discussed things in a very open spirit and they understood each other," the minister added.
