Poroshenko, Hollande, Merkel spoke by phone to coordinate positions ahead of Oct 2 meeting in Paris
KYIV. Oct 1 (Interfax) - President Petro Poroshenko has held a telephone conversation with Germany's Federal Chancellor Angela Merkel and French President Francois Hollande to coordinate their positions ahead of their 'Normandy-format' meeting in Paris on October 2.
The leaders welcomed the signing of an agreement on the removal of tanks and artillery with a caliber of less than 100mm and mortar launchers with a caliber of up to 120mm from the diving line in the anti-terror operation zone in eastern Ukraine, the president's website said on Thursday.
For his part, Kostyantyn Yeliseyev, who is a deputy head of the Ukrainian presidential administration, said on Channel 5 on Thursday evening: "We have coordinated our positions, from which we will be working at tomorrow's meeting."
"We clearly outlined certain red lines to which we must draw Russia's attention and we did, of course, made a certain sketch of our expectations," he said.
Ukraine is expecting that this meeting "will push towards a durable and full ceasefire in Donbas" and provide guaranteed access by OSCE (organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe) monitors to the whole area, including the Russian-Ukrainian border, the administration official said.
Ukraine is also planning to discuss access to the breakaway territory not only by monitors but also representatives from international humanitarian organizations, he said.
