VTB expects to recover half of Transaero's 40 bln ruble leasing debt

SOCHI. Oct 2 (Interfax) - VTB expects to recover about 20 billion rubles of Transaero's obligations to VTB Leasing by selling aircraft that are security on the debt, the head of the state bank, Andrei Kostin said on Friday.

"We will sort this debt out," Kostin said, adding that the debt exceeds 40 billion rubles.

VTB will sell the leased aircraft, "we'll recover at least half of the money," Kostin told reporters on the sidelines of an investment forum in Sochi. Transaero has 21 leased aircraft.

This will be difficult, since "a lot of aircraft will be put on the market," as VEB Leasing will also sell Transaero planes, Kostin said, stressing that VTB expects to get at least 20 billion rubles.
