Something that does not exist in reality attributed to Russia in Syria - Kosachyov

MOSCOW. Oct 2 (Interfax) - A wave of lies is being staged around the Russian operation in Syria, Russia is not destroying civil facilities and is not participating in the conflict between the state authorities and the opposition, head of the Federation Council international affairs committee Konstantin Kosachyov said.

"I see how another wave of discrediting and blatant lies is being staged now against Russia because of our latest decision to use military force in Syria. We are not hitting civil facilities, we are not delivering strikes there where ordinary people can be hurt," Kosachyov said at a meeting of the European Parliament delegation headed by the chief of the group of European deputies 'For New Dialogue with Russia' Nadine Morano on Friday.

He said that Russia was fighting terrorism in Syria.

"We do not participate in the domestic civil war, the conflict which is going on now between the official Syrian authorities and the Syrian opposition," the head of the parliamentary committee said.

He said with confidence that if Russia, France, the United States and other countries, which are not carrying out combat operations in Syria, will find common language and will pool efforts in the struggle against Islamic State, this fight will be really effective.

"Now they seek to again impose such erroneous logic, when at first an absolutely different nature of actions which actually exists is attributed to us, and then due to this attributed nature of actions deny interaction and cooperation to us," Kosachyov said.
