Atambayev dismisses Deputy Defense Minister Zhumabayev

BISHKEK. Oct 5 (Interfax) - Kyrgyz Deputy Defense Minister Nurkaly Zhumabayev, against whom a criminal case has been opened, has been dismissed, the presidential press service told Interfax on Monday.

"Today, on October 5, President Almazbek Atambayev signed a decree dismissing Nurkaly Zhumabayev from his post of deputy defense minister," the press service has reported.

Zhumabayev was charged with abuse of office in mid September. According to investigators, he provided false information that enabled him to receive an increased pension. Zhumabayev is currently in the State National Security Committee's detention facility under a court ruling.
