Oil cos request more time to modernize refining units
NIZHNY NOVGOROD. Oct 6 (Interfax) - Oil companies are requesting more time to modernize a number of refining units, Energy Minister Alexander Novak said at a government meeting on refinery upgrades.
They want to postpone the modernization of 14 units from this year until the period 2016-2020, he said.
"At the beginning of 2015, oil companies asked us to delay the modernization of 14 units until the period 2016-2020. We, together with other federal agencies, are looking at these issues," Novak said.
A total of 18 four-party agreements were signed in 2011 to upgrade 34 existing units and build 99 new ones.
Novak said that analysis of the fulfillment of these agreements by companies showed that from 2011 to 2014, plans to commission these units were carried out in full. "A total of 47 units were commissioned. Investment was 823 billion rubles of the 1.9 trillion rubles planned for 2014 on all 133 units, that is around 45% has already been invested," he said.
