Russia expects UN SC's constructive approach to its draft resolution on opposing terrorism in Mideast, N. Africa
MOSCOW. Oct 8 (Interfax) - Russia expects the UN Security Council to work constructively on a resolution proposed by Moscow on opposing terrorism in the Middle East and in North Africa, Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova said at a news briefing in Moscow on Thursday.
"This document is on the table and Russian diplomats are working with their counterparts now. We do hope for a constructive dialogue and work," Zakharova said.
"We expect our counterparts from other UN Security Council member states to take a non-ideologized approach towards the development of this document, especially taking into consideration the urgency and scope of the terrorist threats that the region is facing," she added.
Russia submitted a draft resolution on opposing terrorism in the Middle East and North Africa to the UN Security Council on September 30.
