Russia cannot make concessions to France under food embargo - Tkachev

MOSCOW. Oct 9 (Interfax) - Russia can't make concessions to France in issues surrounding the food embargo since this country is a member of the European Union.

"France is an integral part of the European Union, and in regard to trading banned products, we cannot give them such a possibility," Agriculture Minister Alexander Tkachev said in Moscow on Friday on the eve of his meeting with the Minister of Agriculture of France Stephane Le Foll.

However, the minister of agriculture said that production technology will be discussed at the negotiations. "This is a very serious program, and we have a lot of potential," he said.

In addition, we will focus on enhancing trade in products which are not banned and will continue to act in the framework of trade agreements. "We have things to discuss, the meeting will be win-win and interesting", - he said.

Tkachev also said that the Agriculture Ministry is thankful to the head of the French Agriculture agency for personally taking part in the Golden Autumn 2015 exhibition that is underway in Moscow.
