Russian economy to remain stable, continue to diversify - Putin
SOCHI. Oct 11 (Interfax) - The Russian economic situation will be stable, Russian President Vladimir Putin has said.
At a meeting with Pirelli chief Marco Tronchetti on Sunday he said that the Russian government and Central Bank are working in close coordination with each other, recently there has been an increase in the gold reserve, the government's reserve funds also remain at a high level.
"All this gives reason to believe that the situation in the Russian economy will be stable and that, despite the well-known slump in domestic demand, we will work to increase it and make it a significant factor of ensuring a high pace of economic development," Putin said.
He also said that Russia will continue to diversify its economy, pushed by the current situation which is not too bad, "being rather positive," he said.
"The Russian economy will retain a good development potential," said the head of state.
