Russia still hopeful to agree on joint efforts with coalition in Syria - Putin
VLADIVOSTOK. Oct 11 (Interfax) - Russia is still hopeful to reach an agreement with the U.S.-led coalition in Syria on joint efforts in the fight against terrorists in that country, Russian President Vladimir Putin has said.
"We are still hoping this can be done," Putin said in Vladimir Solovyov's Sunday Night program aired by the Rossiya 1 television channel.
"There has been some progress. Prototypes of working groups have been created with Israelis and are now being created with Americans; and we are on this path with Turkish partners," he added.
Getting foreign partners to join Russia's efforts would be the simplest way of jointly fighting terrorists, he said.
"If we have the mandate from official authorities, the simplest thing is to join us and work within this mandate. But unfortunately, so far we have not agreed on this with our partners, colleagues," he said.
