Relatives of one of ISIL leaders deny reports of his death - media

TBILISI. Oct 12 (Interfax-AVN) - The relatives of Tarkhan Batirashvili, one of the leaders of the terrorist organization Islamic State, who is also known as Abu Omar al-Shishani, have denied media reports of his death.

Earlier media reports said that al-Shishani had been killed in an Iraqi airstrike against a convoy of ISIL leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi.

Batirashvili's relatives, who live in the Pankisi Gorge in Georgia, told reporters that they did not receive any information of his death from Syria, Georgian media reported on Monday.

Over the past two years there have been several reports about Batirashvili's death which were later dismissed, his relatives said.
