Moldovan president, premier together with some opposition leaders to join 'social dialogue'
CHISINAU. Oct 14 (Interfax) - A first meeting within the framework of the 'social dialogue', which the Moldovan authorities initiated, will be held in the republic on Wednesday, the country's President Nicolae Timofti's press service told Interfax.
"The Moldovan president, Prime Minister Valeriu Strelet, Parliament Speaker Andrian Candu as well as representatives of several parties, non-governmental organizations, civil society, trade unions, associations of employers, figures of culture, science, arts and journalists will participate in the meeting," it said.
In response to indefinite protest actions, which have been on in Chisinau for more than a month with the demands for the resignation of the Moldovan leadership, the president, prime minister and the parliament speaker have put forward an initiative to establish the 'social dialogue' last week. The Moldovan leadership said in an address on this issue that "the dialogue should lay down foundations of a common platform which consolidates the society and provides conditions for the stable development of the country."
Representatives of the DA (Dignity and Justice - Demnitate si Adevar) civil platform who have been holding an indefinite protest action since September 6 said that they would participate in the social dialogue.
Meanwhile, representatives of the Party of Socialists and the Our Party which have been holding a protest action since September 25 refused to participate in the dialogue, saying that they "have nothing to discuss with the thieves."
