Russian diplomats so far not planning to attend Munich Security Conference core group meeting in Tehran on Oct 17
TEHRAN. Oct 14 (Interfax) - The Russian embassy to Tehran cannot say so far whether Russia will be represented at a core group meeting of the Munich Security Conference (MSC) in Tehran on October 17.
"None of the Russian diplomats is planning to go to Tehran so far," the press service of the Russian embassy to Iran told Interfax on Wednesday.
The MSC press service had said earlier that the conference would hold its session for the first time in Tehran. It is expected to be co-chaired by MSC Chairman Wolfgang Ischinger and Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif.
The informal meeting is to be attended by about 60 participants, including German Foreign Minister Frank-Walter Steinmeier, Afghan Foreign Minister Salahuddin Rabbani, Prime Minister of the Regional Government of Iraqi Kurdistan Nechervan Idris Barzani, UN Deputy Envoy to Syria Ramzy Ezzeldin Ramzy, EU External Action Service Deputy Secretary General Helga Schmid, and others.
Officials from the governments of a number of Arab countries, European parliamentarians, and members of non-governmental organizations are also expected to take part in the meeting.
