MOSCOW. Oct 16 (Interfax) - Yum! Brands Russia (the KFC and Pizza Hut brands) is planning to open no less than 100 restaurants in 2016.
"In 2014 we opened 100 restaurants, this year the number of openings will be close to that, there all reasons that in 2016 as close as possible to 100 restaurants will be opened," Yum! Brands Russia CEO Oleg Pisklov said at a press conference in Moscow on Friday.
The press conference was dedicated to KFC's five-year anniversary in Russia.
"We began with 150 restaurants, this year we will end with 440 restaurants," Pisklov said. The company's sales since 2010 rose five-fold, he said, not naming figures in natural terms.
In Russia, Yum! Brands formed a strategic alliance with Rostik Group in 2005 to develop the Rostik's-KFC chain. In 2006, Rostik's-KFC became a separate business unit of the Russian group. Yum! Brands bought the Russian fast food chain Rostik's-KFC in 2010 and in 2011 began converting the restaurants to the KFC brand. The three hundredth KFC fast food restaurant was opened in Belgorod on July 10 of this year.
