Russian Aerospace Force's aircraft hit 49 terrorist sites in Syria - Defense Ministry
MOSCOW. Oct 17 (Interfax) - The Russian Aerospace Force's aviation groups have performed 39 combat raids on 49 infrastructure sites of terrorists in Syria, spokesman of the Russian Defense Ministry Maj. Gen. Igor Konashenkov told reporters on Saturday.
In the course of the day on October 16, Russian Air Force's aircraft have delivered the strikes at underground shelters, control posts, factories producing homemade weapons, fire positions, the artillery of militants, the depots with arms, ammunition and logistic stocks of the ISIL terrorist organization.
"From the Hmeymim airbase 36 combat raids were performed, the strikes were delivered on 49 facilities in the Hama, Idlib, Latakia, Damascus and Aleppo provinces. The airstrikes have destroyed 11 command posts and control posts of the gangs," Konashenkov said, noting that a plant producing explosive devices, three firing positions of militants' artillery, nine depots with weapons and ammunition, two military hardware bases, 15 field camps and bases of terrorists, eight reinforced districts and defensive positions were destroyed.
"All Russian warplanes have returned to the Hmeymim base airfield upon accomplishment of the combat tasks. I also want to note that Russian unmanned aerial vehicles continue monitoring the situation in the skies of Syria," the general said.
