Development of Far East impossible without lower tariffs - FAS
NOVO-OGARYOVO. Oct 19 (Interfax) - Federal Antimonopoly Service (FAS) head Igor Artemyev thinks that the development of the Far East is impossible without more favorable tariffs for this territory.
"It is completely obvious that business in the Far East should have more favorable conditions for development, including that there should be lower tariffs," Artemyev told journalists on Monday. Otherwise, he said, the advanced development of this territory will not be managed.
Artemyev said that the position of the FAS on this issue is close to that of the Far East Development Ministry. Recently both agencies held a relevant meeting. "The trend should be so. We are the supporters of regulating tariffs according to the "inflation minus" scheme, if we want business to develop, it is even impossible to imagine that it will develop if the current tariffs are kept, including the one on electricity," he said.
Answering a question about, which FAS's proposal might be in this respect, he said that it needs to be reckoned in such way that "the power industry doesn't ask for anything either."
