"Azamat Musuraliyev was killed in one of the villages in the Sokuluk district, Chui region," the Interior Ministry's press service reported.

Musuraliyev was among nine prisoners who fled from a prison in the village of Nizhny Nooruz, Chui region in the early hours of October 12. All of the escaped prisoners were either members or supporters of the Jaishul Mahdi extremist organization. Seven of them were sentenced to life.

Musuraliyev was imprisoned on theft charges; however, according to the Kyrgyz Interior Ministry, he actively supported ideas of non-traditional Islam and was an active member of Jaishul Mahdi.

Three police officers were killed and one was wounded when police tried to stop the offenders. The wounded officer died in the early hours of October 16. Five of the nine prisoners were detained on the spot.

One of the escaped prisoners, Daniyar Kadyraliyev, was eliminated on October 16 in a special operation at the Dordoi market outside Bishkek, which is the largest wholesale merchandise market in Central Asia.

Kadyraliyev, who was also an active member of Jaishul Mahdi, was sentenced to life in October 2013.

Jaishul Mahdi, which is banned in Kyrgyzstan, was founded by followers of Said Buryatsky, or Alexander Tikhomirov, who was killed in Russia in March 2010. The extremist organization gained notoriety in late 2010 - early 2011 after it staged a blast outside the Bishkek Palace of Sports. The organization's members were also involved in robberies, extortion and the murders of police officers.
