Kyiv rejects accusations of ceasefire violations

KYIV/DONETSK. Oct 20 (Interfax) - The Ukrainian General Staff has rejected the information of the self-proclaimed Donetsk People's Republic that the Ukrainian military is attacking DPR positions near Donetsk.

"According to reports of the commander center, no incidents were registered in the military operation zone as of 3 p.m. on Tuesday. The ceasefire is fully observed," Ukrainian General Staff press officer Vladyslav Seleznyov told Interfax on Tuesday.

The DPR statement has nothing to do with reality, he underscored.

"Our ally, the side that can confirm the inviolability of our position aimed at the stabilization of the situation in the east of our country, in particular that we observe the ceasefire, is the SMM OSCE observers," Seleznyov said.

The DPR Defense Ministry reported earlier on Tuesday that the Ukrainian military violated the ceasefire eight times in Donbas in the past 24 hours.

Gunfire was opened from a Ukrainian position near the villages of Pisky and Bakhmutivka in the Yasynovata district, the Donetsk News Agency quoted a report of the DPR Defense Ministry.

According to the ministry, the villages of Spartak outside Donetsk, Zaitseve outside Horlivka and the Donetsk airport came under fire from 82mm mortars and automatic grenade launchers.

"In all, 14 mines were launched at the republic's territory in 24 hours," the ministry said.
