Bogdanov, Libyan top diplomat discuss bilateral cooperation, situation in Libya
MOSCOW. Oct 22 (Interfax) - Russian special presidential representative for the Middle East and African countries, Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Bogdanov met with Libyan Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Mohammed Al-Dairi on Thursday.
"At the talks the sides focused on developments in Libya. The Russian side noted the importance of the soonest overcoming of the domestic political crisis in that country that would allow mobilizing the required resources for the effective counteraction to the growing terrorist threat," the Russian diplomatic agency said in a statement posted on its website.
"In this regard, the sides voiced the support to international efforts under the UN aegis to form a government of national accord. The sides expressed the readiness to contribute to the fruitful completion of the intra-Libyan dialogue, proceeding from the priority task to preserve the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Libya," the ministry said.
The sides also expressed "mutual interests in the restoration of the full-format cooperation in traditional spheres of cooperation as long as the situation in Libya is normalizing."
