Defense Ministry: combat training intensity increased considerably this year
MOSCOW. Oct 23 (Interfax-AVN) - Combat training intensity in the Russian Armed Forces increased considerably in 2015, Lieutenant Mikhail Mizintsev, the head of the Russian National Defense Administration Center, said.
"In the Aerospace Forces, which was created this year, special attention is given to the training of aircraft personnel, improvement of the practical skills of weapons systems and practicing issues relating to redeployment to operative aerodromes, cruise missile launches and bomb dropping," Mizintsev said at recent meeting of the Defense Ministry's Public Council.
He reiterated that the number of trained aircraft personnel has increased by 38% this year from last year and the total number of flight hours has increased by 20%.
Mizintsev also said that over 25 multiple-type tactical groups, ships that practiced navigation safety events and actions of search and rescue operations, successfully fulfilled combat training tasks in multiservice and joint training events, including international naval exercises.
"The number of combat missions of submarines and above-water vessels doubled this year, and the time spent under way increased by 117%," he said.
The general said that surprise inspections, especially those led by the supreme commander-in-chief, played a special role for the troops. Multi-service groups of troops are created and combat training tasks are achieved in situations close to real situations during such inspections. All these things take place in unknown localities, which makes it possible to verify and confirm the high combat readiness of military units and servicemen.
"A study of previous inspections helped update the unified method, which has been used to train over fifty battalions and company tactical groups at a new level, in the Ground Forces," Mizintsev said.
