Kremlin refutes damage done by Russian aircraft to Syrian civilians claimed by human rights activists

MOSCOW. Oct 26 (Interfax) - The Kremlin has called hoaxes reports claiming that Russian air strikes in Syria are damaging civilian facilities and said that Russian pilots are carefully selecting their targets.

"In the past few days we have been observing a great number of reports, hoaxes, deliberate leaks on consequences of the air force operation conducted by the Russian Armed Forces in Syria," Kremlin press secretary Dmitry Peskov told reporters on Monday.

"I think it could be one of those," Peskov said.

The media said that Human Rights Watch suspected Russia of violating international legal norms and urged it to pay attention to the damage Russian aircraft had been doing to the civilian population of Syria.

"In the selection of goals and use of necessary information received by Russian servicemen, Syrian colleagues, and colleagues in the information and coordination center in Baghdad, primary attention is given to the prevention of damage to the civilian population," Peskov said.

Russian servicemen have said once and again that "terrorists are frequently hiding in residential areas," he said. However, the Russian Aerospace Forces do not deliver strikes on populated localities.
