Russian Foreign Ministry, Rosneft agree on cooperation

MOSCOW. Oct 26 (Interfax) - The Russian Foreign Ministry and the oil company Rosneft signed an agreement on cooperation in Moscow on Monday.

Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov and Rosneft CEO Igor Sechin took part in the ceremony for signing the document.

Lavrov said the agreement "will systematize the old and traditional relations [between the Foreign Ministry and Rosneft], and will certainly help promote Russia's interests on the global scene more effectively through a private-state partnership."

"Energy security and its provision are now in the focus of global politics and diplomacy. Unfair competition is being added to natural competition, which is exacerbating due to objective reasons and the situation of the energy market," Lavrov said.

"This includes illegitimate sanctions and the attempts to apply the national legislation exterritorialy, to third countries' companies, which have nothing to do with it," the Russian minister said.
