Conflicting parties in Eastern Ukraine reach agreement on swapping captives in "9 for 11" format - OSCE envoy Sajdik

MINSK. Oct 27 (Interfax-Ukraine) - The parties to conflict in eastern Ukraine have agreed on a swap of prisoners at the meeting of the Contact Group in Minsk, OSCE [Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe] envoy Martin Sajdik has told reporters.

"The agreement has been reached on the release of eleven people from Ukraine and nine from some areas of the Donetsk and Luhansk regions. The release will be exercised on October 29," Sajdik said.

The prisoner exchange will be held in the presence of representatives of the International Committee of Red Cross.

Sajdik called on the conflicting parties to swiftly release all prisoners. "I urge all the parties to a swift release of prisoners, captives and illegally detained persons. There are many, very many of them," he said.
