Ruble moderately lower following steep gains on Thursday

MOSCOW. Oct 29 (Interfax) - The ruble was correcting lower against the dollar and euro following the steep gains on Thursday, as the markets assesses the impact of a possible rate hike in the U.S.

The dollar was up 25.2 kopecks to 64.202 rubles/$1 by 7:00 p.m. and the euro was up 51.5 kopecks to 70.339 rubles/EUR1. The bi-currency basket ($0.55 and EUR0.45) was at 66.96 rubles, up 37 kopecks.

As the result of this morning's index session, the Central Bank lowered its official dollar rate for Friday by 114.73 kopecks to 64.1686 rubles/$1 and lowered its euro rate by 200.52 kopecks to 70.1427 rubles/EUR1.

The dollar averaged down 53.78 kopecks to 64.255 rubles/$1 in Today deals on the Moscow Exchange and, by 7:00 p.m., was down 23.27 kopecks to 64.215 rubles/$1 in Tom deals. Overall trading volume was $7.277 billion, of which $1.707 billion Today and $5.571 billion Tom.

The euro averaged down 126 kopecks in Today deals to 70.359 rubles/EUR1 and was down 77.75 kopecks in Tom deals to 70.343 rubles/EUR1 in volume of EUR728 million, of which EUR274 million Today and EUR454 million Tom.

The MosPrime rate for overnight shed 1 basis point to 11.72% p.a.
