EU Official Journal publishes EU Council's resolution suspending some sanctions on Belarus

BRUSSELS. Oct 30 (Interfax) - The decision adopted by the Council of the European Union on October 29 to suspend restrictive measures, including a travel ban and an asset freeze at European banks, with regard to 170 Belarusian individuals and three legal entities for four months, until February 29, 2016, was published in the EU's Official Journal on Friday.

This list of persons and organizations also includes Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko.

The EU's restrictive measures have been suspended with regard to Beltechexport, Beltech Holding and Spetsbriborservice.

Furthermore, according to the published document, the General Court's judgment, dated October 6, 2015, deletes LLC Triple Metal Trade, JV LLC Triple-Techno, MSSFC Logoysk and Triple-Agro ACC from the list of organizations subject to restrictive measures.

In its communique, published on Thursday, the EU Council says that this decision was adopted "in response to the release of all Belarusian political prisoners on August 22 and in the context of improving EU-Belarus relations".

"Restrictive measures against persons and entities were due to expire on October 31. The Council has prolonged these measures for four months, until February 29, 2016, and at the same time suspended them for 170 persons and for three entities," it said.

"The arms embargo also continues to apply," the EU Council said in its communique.
