Five Central Asian states, U.S. adopt partnership and cooperation declaration in Samarkand

TASHKENT. Nov 2 (Interfax) -Foreign policy chiefs of five Central Asian countries and the United States met in Samarkand on Sunday, the Uzbek Foreign Ministry press service said.

Uzbek Foreign Minister Abdulaziz Kamilov made the introductory speech.

The meeting involved U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry and the Foreign Ministers - Yerlan Idrissov of Kazakhstan, Erlan Abdyldaev of Kyrgyzstan, Sirojiddin Aslov of Tajikistan and Rasit Meredow of Turkmenistan.

"The sides exchanged opinions on prospective interaction in the political, trade, economic, cultural and humanitarian areas and topical international and regional issues," the report said.

A joint declaration of partnership and cooperation between the five Central Asian states and the U.S. was adopted at the end of the meeting. The parties to the meeting approved the creation of a new interaction format, C5+1, for regular political dialogue between the foreign policy departments of the six countries on affairs of mutual interest.
