Kadyrov claims to have stopped about 20 young Chechens from joining Wahhabi ranks
MOSCOW. Nov 2 (Interfax) - The leader of Russia's Chechen Republic, Ramzan Kadyrov, has said that at his meeting with young Chechens interested in Wahhabi ideology he was able to show them the right way.
"I meet with young people informally on a daily basis. On Sunday I spent over five hours talking to a large group of Argun residents. It turned out that about 20 people were united by their loyalty to Wahhabi ideology," Kadyrov wrote on his Instagram page.
"A badly educated imam instilled in the young people hatred for the Chechen leader as the chief enemy of Wahhabism," the Chechen leader said.
"I invited parents and relatives to the meeting and told them in detail what their sons take interest in. It is good that the young people have not had a chance yet to commit a crime, to actually break the law. They stated sincerely that they realize their mistakes, repent and will embark on the path of truth. The parents pledged tough control over their behavior," Kadyrov said.
