DPR claims Ukrainian army attack on Spartak, Staromykhailivka
MOSCOW. Nov 3 (Interfax) - The Ukrainian army attacked the village of Spartak in the Yasynuvata district near Donetsk airport last night, the Donetsk news agency said on Tuesday, quoting local residents.
"We were under attack all night long, and the shelling continues now, we cannot leave our homes," the news agency quoted one of its sources as saying.
Local residents said the Ukrainian army was firing tank weapons, rifles and machineguns on residential areas from the direction of the Butovka mine tower and the town of Opytne.
A shell directly hit a house and destroyed the roofing in Staromykhailivka in the Donetsk Kirovskyi district last night, the Donetsk news agency said, referencing the town administration.
The administration found it "difficult to establish" the type of weapon used and the area from which shots were fired. "The shelling has stopped but sporadic shots are still being fired from the direction of Ukrainian positions," the source told the news agency.
Staromykhailivka, a town adjacent to the western outskirts of Donetsk and the contact line, has been repeatedly attacked by the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
