Russian flight safety measures fully comply with intl standards - Foreign Ministry

ST. PETERSBURG. Nov 3 (Interfax) - Russia's civil aviation safety laws fully comply with international standards, Deputy Foreign Minister Oleg Syromolotov told reporters in St. Petersburg on Tuesday.

"Speaking of civil aviation, there is the International Civil Aviation Organization [ICAO]. It develops standards and recommendations, including those pertaining to aviation safety. And everything has been spelled out in the world's civil aviation, a bit stricter in some countries and a bit easier in some others. Yet Russia fully complies with the standards," Syromolotov said.

Asked about the degree of probability that the Russian A321 crashed in Sinai under an external impact, Syromolotov said it would be premature to make any conclusions for now.

"I'd rather not make any conclusions under the current circumstances, this is too early. They will decipher flight recorders' data, and everything will be absolutely clear when this is done," the deputy minister said.
