About 40 foreigners, including citizens of Kyrgyzstan and Azerbaijan, detained in Turkey for trying to join ISIL

BISHKEK. Nov 10 (Interfax) - The Kyrgyz State Committee for National Security has requested details of the detention of five citizens of Kyrgyzstan in Turkey for trying to join ISIL, the committee press service told Interfax on Tuesday.

A group of 38 foreigners trying to join ISIL was apprehended in the Turkish province of Adana, the Kyrgyz media said. Five members of the group were citizens of Kyrgyzstan, 14 came from Azerbaijan, seven from Indonesia, five from Iraq, two from Tajikistan, three from Iran and two from Afghanistan. The group included 15 children and ten women. The detainees were transferred to the Immigration Department for future deportation.

"We are aware of the incident, we are looking into circumstances and will offer comments later," the State Committee said.

According to verified data of Kyrgyz law enforcement authorities, 450 citizens of the republic, among them over 80 women, have gone to the combat zone in Syria. At least 45 of them have been killed.
