Iran remains committed to Vienna talks on Syria, hasn't decided on representation - Russian diplomat
MOSCOW. Nov 12 (Interfax) - Tehran remains interested in being involved in negotiations on Syria in Vienna, but it has not yet decided at what level it should be represented at them, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister and Special Presidential Representative for the Middle East and Africa Mikhail Bogdanov said.
"This issue is being decided on, I don't know at what level - this is for the Iranian side to decide on," Bogdanov told Interfax on Thursday.
Asked whether the uncertainty about Iran's representation signals that it has lost interest in the negotiations, Bogdanov replied, "No, their interest is great."
Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister for Arab-African Affairs Hossein Amirabdollahian had said earlier that Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif would be unable to join the second meeting on settling the Syria crisis in Vienna on November 14.
