Russian, Kazakh security council chiefs discuss international, regional security

MOSCOW. Nov 12 (Interfax) - International and regional security were the topics discussed at a meeting between Russian Security Council Secretary Nikolai Patrushev and his Kazakh counterpart Nurlan Yermekbayev in Moscow on Thursday, a spokesperson for the Russian Security Council told Interfax on Thursday.

This Thursday also saw consultations between experts from the Russian and Kazakh Security Councils, the spokesperson said.

"They discussed development of organizations such as the CSTO [Collective Security Treaty Organization] and the SCO [Shanghai Cooperation Organization], prospects for bilateral defense cooperation, and liaising between Russian and Kazakh law enforcement authorities," the spokesperson said.

The Russian side of the talks was represented by officials from the Foreign Affairs, Defense and Interior Ministries, the Federal Service for Military-Technical Cooperation and Security Council officials, the spokesperson said.
