Kremlin does not confirm media reports about Russian missile strikes on ISIL from sea
MOSCOW. Nov 17 (Interfax) - The Kremlin does not confirm some Western media reports that the strikes on the ISIL sites were delivered particularly by cruise missiles from the sea on Tuesday.
"Today we and you have been at the Defense Ministry. The report, if I am not mistaken, said nothing about this," Russian presidential press secretary Dmitry Peskov told reporters on Tuesday in reply to the Interfax question.
Peskov said that it was better to ask the Defense Ministry for a more detailed commentary.
The website of the Paris newspaper Monde said previously that the Russian military have delivered the strikes on the Raqqah city, a stronghold of the ISIL grouping in Syria, from warships on mission in the Mediterranean Sea.
Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu reported to Russian President Vladimir Putin on Tuesday that Russia has delivered a massive air strike on ISIL in Syria, doubling the number of sorties.
