Russia may boost grain exports by 5% this agricultural year - expert

NOVOSIBIRSK. Nov 19 (Interfax) - During this agricultural year (July 2015-June 2016), Russia may increase grain exports 4.7% in comparison with the previous agricultural year to 31.3 million tonnes, the presentation of LLC ProZerno CEO Vladimir Petrichenko said, which was given during the XI Grain Roundtable in Novosibirsk on Thursday.

In particular, wheat exports may rise 9.2% to 23.6 million tonnes, and corn exports may rise 36.3% to 4.1 million tonnes.

Petrichenko is forecasting the reduction of barley exports by 31.8% to 3.6 million tonnes. He attributed this performance to the fall in 2015 of the barley harvest by 15.8% to 17.2 million tonnes, which, however, is a good harvest for Russia. "2014 was record-breaking for barley, now we will reach the normal level," the expert said.

According to Petrichenko's forecast, Russia in 2015 will reduce the grain harvest by 2.1% to 103.1 million tonnes in net weight. So, Russia may export about a third of the total grain harvest.
