Russian Foreign Ministry not informed if Russia helped organize talks over truce in Syrian province

MOSCOW. Nov 19 (Interfax) - Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova has said that at this point she has no information as to whether Russia mediated talks between the armed Syrian opposition and the Syrian army in Eastern Ghouta over the introduction of a ceasefire.

"I have no such information. The only thing I can [do] is double-check," Zakharova said at a briefing in Moscow when asked if Russia was involved in organizing a truce between the armed Syrian opposition and the Syrian army in the Eastern Ghouta area.

The Deutsche Welle radio station said earlier on Thursday that Syrian government troops and the opposition were possibly in talks, mediated by Russia and Iran, over the introduction of a ceasefire in the Eastern Ghouta area.
