Belarusian Foreign Ministry alarmed by downing of Russian Su-24 by Turkish Air Force
MINSK. Nov 25 (Interfax) - The Foreign Ministry of Belarus has expressed deep regret and extreme concern in relation to the incident involving the downing of a Russian warplane by the Turkish Air Force, a statement of the ministry's press service published on Wednesday says.
"Such tragic and very dangerous incidents arouse deep regret and extreme concern. Especially when they take place in a region where bloody armed confrontation has lasted for several years already without it and when fraternal Russia and friendly Turkey become sides to such incidents," the ministry noted.
"This dramatic turn of events is not in the interests of either side and threatens to have political implications for the common cause of the world community of fighting international terrorism," it stressed.
"Any situation of this kind requires restraint and joint efforts to ease tension and clarify all the details of the incident to avoid their repetition in the future," the ministry summed up.
