Crimean authorities agree with oil product market operators to not allow price hike during emergency

MOSCOW. Nov 26 (Interfax) - The Council of Ministers of Crimea and operators on the republic's petroleum product market last night signed an agreement on the provision of motor fuel to consumers during the emergency situation that was declared in connection with the restriction of the power supply to the region.

"According to the document, petroleum product operators are obliged to not allow a rise in retail prices for motor fuel, and issues of price formation must be agreed upon with the Council of Ministers of the Republic of Crimea. In addition, they need to take additional measures for the creation of reserves of motor fuel of no less than a 20-day volume in order to ensure there is a sufficient quantity of fuel," the information department and press service of the head of the republic said.

The statement also said that the Council of Ministers of Crimea should render organizational aid in the resolution of emerging problems connected with the shipment and transportation of motor fuel, and in the case of losses incurred by operators, which are properly substantiated, to offset damages with emergency funds.

According to the information department, the agreement was signed by the First Deputy Chairman of the Council of Ministers Mikhail Sheremet, Fuel and Energy Minister of Crimea Svetlana Borodulina and also the region's main petroleum product market players.

"We signed an agreement stating that no one will capitalize on these temporary difficulties in the republic, we will proceed as one team," Sheremet was cited as saying in the statement.
