Russia to send at least two humanitarian aid convoys to Donbas in December

MOSCOW. Nov 28 (Interfax) - The Russian Emergency Situations Ministry is planning to continue sending humanitarian aid convoys to Donbas in 2016.

"For now, yes," said Vladimir Stepanov, First Deputy Minister of Emergency Situations, when asked by Interfax whether Russia will continue sending humanitarian convoys to Donbas next year.

"At least two humanitarian convoys will be sent to Donbas" in December, he said.

"We will certainly make sure that we bring sweets and presents to the children," Stepanov said.

He did not say on which dates the convoys could be sent.

Russian regions will also be contributing to the humanitarian aid, the first deputy minister said.

"We asked our regions to join in providing the aid for the children," Stepanov said.

According to the authorities of the self-proclaimed republics, there are 175,000 children living in the Luhansk People's Republic, and 250,000 in the Donetsk People's Republic.
