Russian-Israeli military coordination mechanism functions successfully - Putin

PARIS. Nov 30 (Interfax) - Russian President Vladimir Putin and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu have acknowledged the successfulness of interaction between the Russian and Israeli military as part of a coordination mechanism they created after events escalated in Syria.

"I want to note that the coordination mechanism set up between our military on your initiative following the escalation of the situation in the region has functioned quite successfully," Putin told Netanyahu at their meeting.

The Israeli prime minister concurred with him by saying that the military interaction and coordination has been "successful." "Tragic events occurred recently, and they very much emphasized the importance of our coordination and our interaction," Netanyahu said.

More and more countries are getting involved in the fight against global terror, he said.

"I am very hopeful that Russia and Israel will be able to find common points of view, will agree on all global strategic issues, we believe we are quite capable of it," Netanyahu said.

Both countries will interact "on the ground, in the air and not only," he said.

In opening the meeting, the Russian president recalled their talks during Netanyahu's Moscow visit and added that many events are happening in the world, including dramatic ones.

At the same time Putin noted that he would like to begin the meeting by congratulating the prime minister on the forthcoming Hannukah holiday.

"It is a good, fair holiday of the victory of light over darkness. Let us hope that it will be so in international relations as well," said Putin, adding that Moscow is satisfied with the development of the bilateral relationship.
