MOSCOW. Dec 1 (Interfax) - The Russian Education and Science Ministry has announced a review of education ties between Russia and Turkey as almost 50 Russian universities have already terminated cooperation treaties with Turkish universities and institutes.

"As of today, most of the 44 Russian universities cooperating with Turkish educational organizations have already notified their Turkish partners that they have unilaterally terminated or suspended their previously concluded treaties on cooperation," the press service of the Education and Science Ministry told Interfax on Tuesday.

"Russian-Turkish ties in the sphere of education are being reviewed," it said.

A total of 1,030 Turkish citizens are studying at 123 Russian universities, the ministry said.

Nevertheless, these people will be able to continue their studies and no restrictions will be imposed with regard to Turkish students, it said.

Russian Education and Science Minister Dmitry Livanov said on Monday that the ministry had instructed Russian universities to protect Turkish students studying in Russia from provocations.
